RSSomatic.com

Last week I realized that I spend too much time checking my news feeds. There’s something almost addictive about getting my news feeds and seeing what’s new over and over… and thought I’d be better-off if I had some way of having them combined and distilled to a raw text format in my inbox instead of pulling up a web browser constantly. As well, I’m sure it doesn’t look great to have news sites open in a browser when I’m at work…

So, I made rssomatic.com – It does just that. You supply your email, pick your feeds, pick a schedule, and the system will get the news feeds, take out the links you’ve already been sent, and send you a plain-text email with the headlines and links to the stories. I’ve been using it for a week now and it seems like it’s helping me keep off the news sites. I still click into the articles here and there – but at least I’m not scrounging through huge lists of stories for the new ones at the moment.

Try it out? Let me know what you think.
